We are happy to present the new IE3 electric motor, designed for Lafert spa, released on 25 April at the Hannover Messe, the world’s leading trade show for industrial technology.
For over a year, we have been designing and developing one of the company’s key products that will define the future design of all sizes in the IE3 series.
This complex functional object shows powerful and efficient performance, equal to the previous larger models size. We found it necessary to combine the major functional characteristics such as versatility of assembly, ease of production, and effectiveness of cooling, with the design and dimensions of a product that will be a marked change in this industry.
The industrial design approach has helped us develop highly functional solutions and integrate them into an packaging that is recognizable and easily integrated with a wide range of industrial machinery.
The focal point of the project is the integration of drive and motor. This allows to obtain a new product category with a compact volume, a better cooling of the electronics and a new and recognizable shape .
Co-designed with : Riccardo Varini, Alessandro Pedron
The form incorporates lines dictated by technology and lines driven by evocative forms such as snow crystal or diamond, to blend into an object that in addition to fulfill its function, expresses a strong identity and can catch the eye even when not in use. Co-designed with PB Interiordesign
Form meets function in the shape and architecture of the HeM product, which bring advantages even on the technical plane. Pure and accurate shapes reflect musical sounds. The highest quality materials are used to create a product that provides security, grace and reliability.
Shire series is a range of synchronous gearless machines with permanent magnet inner rotor and torque to 576 Nm especially designed for elevators up to 1200 kg. Compact design and high reliability allow the installation of advanced elevators not requiring a machine room. Maximum efficiency thanks to the motor design able to reduce at minimum level the absorption of electric energy. Cohesive design for different sizes cover a wide range of applications, reflect powerfull, strength and compactness. Longitudinal ribs integrate the front and brake protections. Modular structure of all components optimises industrial production and customization request
The HPI motor designed for LafertGroup wins Honorable Mention Compasso d’Oro ADI and is inserted in the Historical Collection of the Compasso d’Oro ADI. This important award recognizes the radically innovative approach in an historically conservative industry sector, enhancing the synergistic understanding producer-designer, implemented by Lafert with Miquadra. During 2014 the permanent magnet synchronous motor HP, has received the Frost & Sullivan New Product Innovation Leadership Award 2013.
Established in 1954, the ADI (Italian Industrial Design Association) Compasso d’Oro Award is the oldest and most influential international design award. The Compasso d’Oro is awarded on the basis of a pre-selection made by ADI Permanent Observatory of Design, consisting of a commission of experts, designers, critics, historians, specialized journalists, ADI members or external to it, all continuously engaged in collecting information year after year, and in valuing and selecting the best products that may be published on the ADI Design Index.
The products awarded in more than fifty years, along with the products selected with the Honorable Mention, are collected and kept in the Historical Collection of the Compasso d’Oro Award. The Collection includes furniture, accessories, machinery and precision instruments, vehicles and industrial components, materials and consumer goods. With a step that has no precedent anywhere else in the world of international design, the Italian Cultural Heritage Ministry, Regional Office for Lombardy, with a Decree dated 22 April 2004, declared the Historical Collection of the Compasso d’Oro Award to be “of exceptional artistic and historical interest” and included it in Italy’s national heritage.

New format for the post of the Republic of San Marino
The new design for the Post of San Marino is founded on a articulated university research. The research, conducted between October 2009 and July 2010, has set itself the aim of defining the guidelines for a strategic development plan for the design of the Post of San Marino. Read more >
“The designer can design a piece of furniture, a toy, a metal structure, can handle with a lighting problem or other, all different from each other, not because he is a genius, but because it has a design method that leads to different logical and aesthetic solutions, according to the materials, the techniques and the functions.”
Centauro is an electric motor vehicle designed for urban areas. The vehicle has reduced dimensions, which allows for the transport of three people and 200 litres of luggage. Centauro is based on simple production technologies. With the highest focus on security and safety, the Centauro is endowed with brushless engines in the wheels, which allow for four-wheel drive and ultimate performance on varying surfaces and terrains.

The research points to the possibility of producing texture and color composition alternatives to classic historical designs and identified in the archetypes graphics of tissue, ideal examples for experimentation.
For the final MyMUG were extrapolated and adapted the pattern of Tartan, Granny square and the typical Picnic square.
Recreated with the plane composition, and then blown into the desired shape opens up new possibilities for artistic glass from Murano, and show how form and decoration are not disjoint, but an integral part of the design process itself.
